Last (but not the least) post about holidays... This 3rd of september has everything of a back to work, back to school day. I don't know about you my friends, but its humid and not verry sunny around here in Paris, the city is busy again.. but it actually feels goood and exciting isn't it ?!

After 6 month of a parisian autarky, I can finally travel out of France ! Freeeedom ! and what a better destination than the middle of my beloved mediterranean sea, Sardinia... I missed you !

After spending almost all my summers there from my 7 year's old to my 13th, it's now with a different eye and lifestyle that I re-discover it.

10 days, in a little bay of Porto Pino (1h from Cagliari airport), far from all kind of city and urban activity, with family, friends and babies !

A typical day in this house au bord de l'eau :

9am wake up, long table for breakfast, my diet : Italian ciabatta bread with nutella, lemon EstaTHE and sardinian super tasty peaches.

10am, beach time, bag is ready, SPF, oil, tunisian fouta and not to forget : the mask ! Ok, ready for the turquoise water.

12am, back to the house for lunch... oh lunch, the pictures will describe it better than any of my words..

3pm, after long discussions, coffee, and cakes, I ate too much.. direction -> bed of hammoc with a book (or a magazine on lazy days) waiting for Morpheus's arms.

5pm, enough sleeping, time to the second beach session, diving from the rocks ! Yeaaah !

7.30pm back home, all getting dressed for the prosecco and the sunset... It's so beautiful that everytime it's like I never saw it before excitement is always the same.

9pm, dinner, fish, risotto, spaghetti al vongole, grilled gambas, wine, the pleasure of italian food.

11pm : 2 options, quite nights will be watching the stars on the terrace and try to catch as many falling stars for all the wishes I have ! I've rarely seen such a beautiful sky, milky way, great bear,

Eventful night will be drinks in a bar, IF you get lucky a crazy night at the discotheca, if not...a crazy night at the coolest italian friend's place and finish with a midnight bath in the fluorescent plankton of our beach ! (always with prosecco and starry sky)

I had the most relaxed and lovely time during these 10 days and can now face September and my new job serenely ! 2012, you can now start !

5 Incredible days in Basque country..

Based in Biarritz, we had the chance to drive to San Sebastian (40 mins) and Fontarabi - a fishing village 30mins away by car and 8mins of ferry.

Amazing country, warm people, delicious food, it was just perfect. I strongly recommend this place to anyone for a long week end.

We spent our first day in San Sebastian - officially called Donostia in basque - I had my first surf lesson and apparently did well :)

The city is so chilled, tapas everywhere, surfers on the beach, skateboarding kiddos, sea, sun, what else ?

While visiting the city, we walked into a demonstration for the Basque country independence and that's when I really felt the difference between this region's culture and identity, and the rest of Spain.

After a yummy typical fish dish on the Conca, we drove back to Biarritz totally enchanted.

Biarritz... mmh, I'll be back to you soon ! Even though we were in France, I felt in such a different scene. The perfect archetype surfers place, we were there during a Roxy competition that took place in the famous Côte des Basques (most famous coast for surf), so there was a real energy there.

Biarritz is a succession of beautiful and wide beaches where even if you're not a surfer and never surfed  in your life, you'll feel the need to at least try.

Luckily we were staying at my friend's house, as good locals they are they took really good care of us and showed us the best places to eat and drink, thanks again to all of you !

Must say that my favourite place of this trip - food wise - was in Fontarabi. My friend took us there for our last night, the place is called Ardoka, best tapas I've ever had. The restaurant is located in a typical Spanish street, we ate outside on a wine barrel, à la basque !

In the menu : grilled basque pepper, Jamon Iberico, fried calamari, individual tapas of foid gras à la plancha, mini pieces of beef, Xipiron and squid ink risotto, Bacalao and many more.. Everything we had was good !

So if you ever spend a long week end or holiday in this area, you must make a detour to this place, you won't be disappointed !

I'm now back to Paris, with loads of souvenirs of the great times I had there, and would definitly go back during another season for a real visit of the old basque city.
